SailProof was founded in 2020 to create rugged, waterproof tablets designed for the maritime sector. Our company emerged from a recognized need among European sailors for reliable, durable devices that could withstand the harsh marine environment. SailProof’s inception is rooted in the personal experience of our founders, who sought an affordable, long-lasting solution for tracking and navigating their sailing adventures.
Our journey began during visits to Shenzhen, China, where we considered waterproof tablets primarily intended for the industrial and logistics sectors. However, after testing these initial models, we found them unsuitable for life on the water and decided to develop a tablet tailored specifically to sailors’ needs.
Thus, we set out to create a tablet with the essential features for sailing: a high-capacity battery capable of lasting a full day at sea, a screen that remains readable in full sunlight, an IP67 waterproof and shock-proof casing, a quality GNSS (aka GPS) chip, a powerful processor, sufficient memory, and an OS, Android, giving access to the largest apps marketplace. Since no product on the market met all these specifications, our founders collaborated with factories to create it. Fast forward three years of testing and tweaking, the SailProof SP08 rugged tablet launched in June 2020.
Today, SailProof has emerged as a promising player in the market for marine-grade technology providing devices that withstands the unique challenges of the marine environment. Our tablets have been embraced in prestigious competitions like the America’s Cup and have garnered attention for their innovative approach to marine technology.
